What is your turnaround time?
Most pieces are made to order, and will take 2-3 weeks from the date of purchase before shipping. You will receive an email letting you know your jewelry is on its way once I am done. I am a one-woman shop, and while I'd love to promise a quicker turnaround, I have to be realistic with my time and my work/life balance. However, if you are in a rush, please contact me and I'll see what I can do to get your piece done sooner.

 

What are your shipping rates?
For Domestic orders, choose between USPS Priority or USPS First Class for shipping. 

USPS Priority - $7.50
Your jewelry will ship packaged in a small flat rate box. The package will have $50.00 worth of insurance, and will also have a tracking number. Shipping time typically takes 1-3 business days, depending on destination (not guaranteed).

USPS First Class - $4.00
Your jewelry will be packaged in a small bubble mailer, and will have a tracking number. Shipping time typically takes 2-5 business days, depending on destination (not guaranteed).

International orders are shipped using USPS First Class International.

USPS First Class International - $10.00
Your jewelry will be packaged in a small bubble mailer, and will have a tracking number. Shipping time typically takes 2-3 weeks. Please be aware that the buyer is responsible or any customs fees or duty that is applicable to the order.

Can I add insurance to my order?
Orders shipped via USPS Priority Mail will be automatically be insured up to $50.00. Additional insurance can be added - please contact me to ask about rates. 

What is your return/refund policy?
I want you to be happy with the pieces you have chosen.

All of my work is carefully handmade. I have tried to be as descriptive as possible about my work so that you know and love what you're getting. So please read those descriptions and measurements carefully! And I am happy to answer any questions you have prior to placing your order.

In the chance that you are not satisfied with your purchase, please email me (at EstherKaoJewelry@gmail.com) within 7 days of receipt and we can try to make adjustments where possible. Please understand that while most items can be returned, some restrictions do apply. Any items that were custom made (including rings made in a size specified by the customer), will be refunded minus a 20% restocking fee.

Returned items are subject to a quality check. If the piece has been clearly worn or damaged, I reserve the right to withhold a refund. All custom made pieces are non refundable. Return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. 

Refunds will be issued in the form of payment that was made. If a gift card was used to purchase the item, the refund will be credited back into the gift card. 

If you would like to cancel an order, you may do so within 48 hours of placing the order. All cancellations after that will be subject to a 20% restocking fee.

What materials do you use to make your jewelry?
My pieces are made from sterling silver, fine silver, and 14k gold. Any piece that has been oxidized has been either hand patinaed, or has had a layer of black rhodium plated on the selected areas. If you have a nickel allergy, please be aware that your skin may also react to anything with the black rhodium plating on it. If you have any questions about the finishes I use on my pieces, please contact me.

How do I care for my jewelry?
Silver tarnishes over time. It's sad, but true. In order to slow the tarnishing process, store your piece in an airtight container (a ziplock baggie works fine!) and away from humidity (i.e. not in the bathroom). If your jewelry starts to tarnish, you can use a polishing cloth to buff it back to a shine. Be gentle with pieces that have been hand oxidized – too much polishing will remove the dark finish.

How do I determine my ring size?
The best way to get sized is to visit your local jeweler and ask them to size your finger. If you'd rather size yourself, I would suggest purchasing a metal ring sizer, to get the most accurate measure. Many of the DIY methods to determine ring size aren't reliable.

What happens if I get my ring size wrong and need a resize?
I'm happy to resize your ring (design allowing) for a fee of $25.00 plus shipping. Resizing usually takes 2-3 weeks. To start the ring re-sizing process, email me at EstherKaoJewelry@gmail.com.The buyer resumes all responsibility for shipping costs to and from Esther Kao Jewelry for any ring that needs to be resized.

What happens if the finish wears off my piece of jewelry?
All finishes on my jewelry is done by hand. Typically it is either with a painted on oxidation, or by plating selected areas with black rhodium. With heavy wear and tear, the finish unfortunately may wear off. I am happy to reoxidize or replate an item one time free of charge if you feel that the oxidized finish has worn off within 6 months of purchase. Just contact me (EstherKaoJewelry@gmail.com) to start a conversation about your piece. I ask that the buyer cover return shipping of their item. Beyond that one time, I can reoxidize or replate for a fee. 

How long does it take for a 'made to order' piece to be made?
Most of my pieces are made to order, and I understand that when you place an order, you'd love to get it ASAP. I am a one woman shop and will try my best to complete and ship orders as soon as I can. If you need it sooner, please contact me and I'll do what I can to speed up your order.

Do you take custom orders?
I am happy to chat about designing a piece just for you. If you are interested in a custom piece, please contact me. 
Please be aware that any pieces that have been custom made are not returnable.
